Nintendo Switch Online patch has made Ocarina of Time foggy again

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart 64 have received fog again thanks to the latest Nintendo Switch Online patch.

As spotted by Nintendo’s life (opens in a new tab)twitter user @OatmealDome (opens in a new tab) noticed that the Nintendo Switch Online 2.0.0 update includes a number of game setup fixes. Most notably one that brings back the fog found in both Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart 64.

According to OatmealDome’s tweet, the Water Temple room in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time now sports a layer of fog, where previously it didn’t. Another Twitter user, @Ferchou_27 (opens in a new tab)also spotted the return of fog at the entrance to Ocarina of Time’s Forest Temple – where it was noticeably missing at launch – and also in Mario Kart 64’s Choco Mountain course.

A quick Twitter search reveals that fog isn’t the only thing that’s been fixed in the Nintendo Switch Online 2.0.0 update. Another Twitter user, @GamingBoy256 (opens in a new tab)also shared that they noticed that Paper Mario fixed its Watt death bug as well. Apparently, before the patch, if players died with Watt as a partner, it crashed the app.

It’s possible that these aren’t the only minor things Nintendo has fixed in its Nintendo Switch Online N64 emulator. In reality, @OatmealDome also claimed (opens in a new tab) that an “unknown code patch” has also been added to Banjo Kazooie. But it looks like it could have been an incredibly minor fix as no one has reported online that they haven’t noticed any changes in the Nintendo 64 game yet.
