Unofficial Ocarina of Time ‘OpenOcarina’ PC Port Released

A new Ocarina of time The PC port is finally launched. OpenOcarina is here and you can get it right now, but you won’t quite be able to download a few files and start reading it right away.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of the most beloved games of all time, so much so that fans recreated a lost prototype of the game after it was discovered last year. Naturally, there are a ton of other projects related to this game. Now, one of those projects is finally out: OpenOcarina is here.

OpenOcarina is an Ocarina of Time PC port with potential

Just like the other PC ports of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, OpenOcarina is an intelligent technical creation. This Ocarina of time The PC port lets you run Nintendo’s classic on a modern PC while (hopefully) avoiding any worries about a DMCA takedown as reported by DSOGaming (via Reddit)

You see, this particular batch of code is entirely original according to its developers. None of Nintendo’s code or art is involved in the code they distribute, a strategy that is also used by other PC port projects like the ones we covered earlier this year and the last summer.

Unfortunately, this also means that you can’t just download this port and play it without a bit of work. You’ll need to get a working ROM of the original game to actually make it playable, and then you’ll need to put everything together. Predictably, this PC port also has a technical issue or two.

For now you can download this Ocarina of time PC port on Github. If you’d rather play the genuine item, you’ll either need to break out one of your old consoles or get the Nintendo Switch Online Membership + Expansion Pack to play it on your Switch.
